Travel Cards are just calling cards. They allow customers to place calls using an access number, toll free or local, from the United States and other countries.
There are two basic kinds of Travel Cards:
- Postpaid, meaning that you making calls on credit and then get billed monthly
- Prepaid Phone Card
Postpaid calling card(s) comes complimentary to any switched long distance service, i.e. when you order regular long distance service from us; we will send you a Travel Card. These cards are convenient to use, have enhanced features and allow calling from other countries and reasonably priced.
The best example of Prepaid Travel card is Peanuts-LD dial-around service or Across America Phone Card. These cards require prepayment, but provide lower rates per minute.
Any travel card will allow you to call from a pay phone using a toll free access number. Bear in mind that there is a pay phone surcharge on your Travel Card when used from a public phone. This surcharge was recently increased by Federal Communications Commission and be as high as $1.50 per call.
To avoid the pay phone surcharge when using your card domestically, we recommend depositing $0.35 into the payphone as if you were going to make a local call. Then rather then dialing the toll free access number, dial the local access number for your area. This will avoid the payphone surcharge and provide lower rates per minute.
Most of our travel cards have access numbers in a variety of countries around the world. Make sure you check our access number finder, or the best rate finder to make sure there is an access number in the country you will be traveling to.
The International Voyager phone card and OmniCall phone card provide access numbers in over 125 and 80 countries respectively.

The process of transferring phone numbers between carriers is known as porting. Long Distance Post can port your toll free number to our services. Porting time can take anywhere from just a few days, to up to 3 weeks to transfer your 800 number to a different carrier. In order to port your toll free phone number your RespOrg (Responsible Organization) must be contacted. RespOrg is the organization responsible for controlling and maintaining your toll free number.

- Download the RespOrg Form appropriate for the service you selected:
Fill out the form very carefully. The name, address and signature should be matching original information for your toll free number - otherwise the existing Responsible Organization will not release your toll free number.
